Which core drill for this hole diameter
Power, mounting and speed depend mainly on the core bit diameter. Move the slider to see the machine class and the recommended speed.

What most often goes wrong when drilling
The core bit runs out of true
Cause: play in the spindle, worn bearings, a bent core bit tube.
Fix: inspect the spindle and bearings, check the straightness of the core bit.
The motor overheats
Cause: too little power for the diameter, too much feed pressure.
Fix: a machine of the right class and a lower gear for large diameters.
The rig "walks"
Cause: a weak anchor, a leaking vacuum base.
Fix: an anchor matched to the substrate, check the seal and the pump.
Water leaking onto the motor
Cause: worn water swivel seals.
Fix: replace the seals in service, test the PRCD.

Which core drill for 150 mm holes in reinforced concrete?
A stand-mounted core drill of about 3–4 kW with a 1 1/4" UNC spindle, anchored or on a vacuum base, drilling wet. Check it in the core drill selector.
What speed for a diamond core bit?
It depends on the diameter: in concrete the usual peripheral speed is about 3–5 m/s. The larger the core bit, the lower the speed – that is why large diameters are drilled in a lower gear.
Hand-held or stand-mounted core drill?
Hand-held for small diameters, usually up to about 62 mm, and dry holes in masonry. For larger diameters and reinforced concrete a stand gives stability, a square hole and safety.
Can I rent a core drill for a trial?
Test rental lets you try the machine on your own job before buying. Terms and availability on request
Do you service other brands of core drills?
We agree the scope of repair once you describe the fault. Fully serviced machines are available in our refurbished range.
